Walkie Talkie: Samsung Updates Its Galaxy Watch 4 With Its Own Feature

Samsung now has a walkie talkie app for its Samsung Watch series 4, the feature popularised by the Apple watch now makes way to Samsung’s. Walkie Talkie makes it possible to have a dialogue with another person using the same device.

XDA Developers recently noticed the new app on the play store. While it works independently without the watch, Samsung recommends using the Talkie walkie app when connected to the phone.

Samsung version of its walkie talkie has more range than Apple’s version. The Samsung app allows more than 2 people to communicate using the app, whereas Apple’s is just two.

Watch 4  has health and fitness features at its forefront, unveiled during the Samsung Unpack event. They are available in black, green, silver, and pink gold colours.

There are 44mm and 40mm sizes for these watches, weighing 30g and 26g respectively without their straps attached. AS expected, the bigger watch has more battery life, 361mAh, while the other 247mAh.

 

Four Galaxy Watch4 devices are grouped together, with each watch prominently showing different watch face styles to tell the time. Each watch is in a different color, from black, pink gold, green, to silver.

Earlier Samsung teased its new smartwatch chip, the Exynos W920. This is Samsung’s 5nm processor to power its next generation of wearables, an industry first.

Samsung says this is “the watch that knows you best”. Its new smartwatch is health and fitness-themed, a companion to a healthier you. Galaxy watch 4 actively gets to know your body fat percentage and skeletal muscle. Its BioActive Sensor and chip bring a lot of tech in a small package.

There is a little bit of caveat though for the new walkie talkie app. It doesn’t work on previous versions of the Galaxy Watch. That means in order to try out this new feature, you have to splash the cash on the new Galaxy watches.
