Twitter has introduced new features on its desktop design that include some great parts of the mobile app. The update adds a new navigation experience to the web Twitter page along with some customisation options.

The top navigation bar that contains the profile, bookmarks and lists has now been moved to the left side. There is also a new explore tab which was incorporated from the mobile app version. It will feature personalised local trends and live videos.

The Direct Messages bit has been redone to show sent messages and conversations in the same window. Users can also get different colour schemes, themes and the popular dark mode on the desktop version of Twitter.

Another feature incorporated is the ‘sparkle’ button that lets users switch to seeing the latest tweets in chronological order or the Top tweets first. There is also a sidebar which makes it easy to navigate to other accounts with one sweep without having to log out.

A lot of these features in the new Twitter update have already been available on the mobile app for years. Users have had the ability to switch between account without having to log in again or log out.

However, unlike the usual web updates, users will no longer be able to switch back to the old desktop versions. They will no longer have the option to switch back to the old twitter desktop versions.

No, Twitter is still not giving us an edit post option. We still have to live with the typos and threads.
