It is throwback Thursday and today we celebrate Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, who is a year older today.

 

With a career that has spanned over 20 years in the film industry, Chioma Chukwuka is one actress that has managed to stay relevant.

 

Known as the perfect “church girl” in films, she does not fail to interpret her roles effortlessly. Also, she has managed to keep her marriage and kids away from social media. She ensures that she does not even post their photos on social media.

 

Born in Lagos State, and hails from Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State. She completed her primary education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos State.

She attended Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra State for her secondary education. After this, she headed to Lagos State University, to study Banking and Finance.

 

Chukwuka’s acting career began with her debut in the film “The Apple” in 2000. She also acted in the film “The Handkerchief” in 2000.

In 2007 she won the Best Actress in a Lead Role award at the African Movie Academy Awards for the film “Sins of the Flesh”.

 

She has starred in more than 350 Nollywood movies. But this is not all that she has done in Nollywood. As a filmmaker, Chioma Chukwuka also produced/co-produced over 8 films including the award-nominated blockbuster “On Bended Knees”.

 

Today we celebrate Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, a super talented actress who has contributed immensely to the growth of the home video industry in Nigeria.
