Technoblade, a popular Minecraft streamer, died at 23 from cancer after uploading a final video to say goodbye to fans.

In his last video, Technoblade revealed that his real name was Alex, after using pseudonyms online for the past couple of years. His jarring opening statement was, “Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this, I am dead.”

After thanking viewers for their support, he apologized for all the merch he had sold over the past months, adding that he had made enough money for his siblings to go to college if they wanted.

His father added details about how the video was made, including the fact that in his final moments, Alex had issues writing the script. “I don’t think he said everything he wanted to say, but I think he got the main points. He finished that up and then he was done. He lived about another eight hours after that,” his father said.

While his passing is a tragedy, Alex maintained his good humor down to the end. He joked about the fact that his health insurance provider was ‘inconsolable for weeks’ after the news that his situation had deteriorated.

His family released a statement that a part of the sales of his merchandise will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. They also requested that their privacy be respected.
