Sony will be hosting a dynamic PlayStation 5 showcase event on September 9th. This event has a theme of “a look into the future of PS5”, the company said. It starts exactly at 4 PM Eastern Time and 1 PM Pacific time.

Also to be on display in the event is an update from PlayStation Studios and new games for the holiday season. Sony says there won’t be any appearance of its next-generation VR technology.

The PlayStation 5 newest slimmer design has a shrunk down heatsink, the new models originally were seen in Australia. The reason for its slimmer design wasn’t known until YouTuber Austin Evans did a teardown of the new model in the United States.

Its cooling mechanism design was shrunk down, losing 300 grams off the older PlayStation 5 models according to “Hey guys this is Austin.” This tore down version is fully digital; meaning it’s without a disk.

Austin Evans says the new model runs hotter, as a result of the new design, running about 3 to 5 degrees higher than the older models. Sony’s digital model is a way of reducing the costs of its more expensive Disk model cooling system.

Sony has been working hard to make sure the PlayStation 5 hits shelves and are in gamers hands. Versions of the newer PlayStation 5 are in the United States, Japan and Australia.  Sony says the PlayStation 5 event will last 40 minutes, and you can watch it live on YouTube and Twitch.
