Google is rolling out a new feature for users to remove pages containing their personal info from search results. It is different from the old method that required you going to a support page and filling out forms.

How to do it: The new method only requires you to tap on the three vertical dots at the top right of each result and this takes you to the “About this result” tab. From there, you can choose the “Remove result” option and submit your request to remove the result.

There is also a new tool that is accessible via the Google app, which comes pre-installed for Android users and downloadable for iPhone users through this link.

To remove your personal information from Google search result using the app, here is what you can do:

— Open the Google app and tap on your profile picture

— Tap on the “Results about you” option

— Next, you will see the status of removal requests that you have made and start a new one as well.

Why is this important? The latest features are Google’s way to keep sensitive information doxing in check. Also, it helps users limit the number of people who can see outdated or illegal details about them.

However, one loophole is that this action only deindexes the page containing your personal info from Google search. The particular webpage remains available on the original website and people can still see it if they visit the page directly, either via a shared link of typing in the URL.
