On Sunday, 23rd February 2020, the premiere of the film “When Love Is Not Enough” held. It was produced by popular OAP and actress Omotunde Adebowale David, popularly known as Lolo 1.
The event held at the O Deluxe Cinemas on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos. It had in attendance friends, family members and entertainers. The theme of the event was “The Prince and his Hajia”. As such, guests trooped in wearing elaborate turbans and Kaftans.
In her welcome speech, Lolo explained that the film uses a blend of different languages, including Yoruba, English and Pidgin, making it easy to understand. She also revealed that the production was meant to shed light on Multiple Sclerosis, a health condition a lot of Nigerians are unaware of.
Stating that the film also aims to assist families with children with this condition, she revealed that her second film is in the pipeline.
Plot
“When Love Is Not Enough” tells the story of Banji (played by Deyemi Okanlawon) and Amara (Adejumoke Aderounmu) who were in love and got married. Amara gets diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which she refuses to tell her husband. Months later, he finds out and they decide to keep it as a secret from their parents.
It is a tug of war when the parents of Banji and Amara find out about the couple’s predicament. They become a thorn of flesh of the couple who love each other immensely. But the couple is ready to make their marriage work even with Amara’s health condition.
Now Banji has to fight for their marriage and for the woman he loves. Faced with the temptation to cheat or even walk away from the marriage, will love be enough to hold their marriage together?

The film talks about unwavering love, parental influence in marriage, and what Multiple Sclerosis is all about. The comic relief was on another level as Lolo 1, who played the role of Amara’s mother, gave us drama and laughter.
However, the film had its shortcomings. First, the picture quality in some scenes was not as high as in some other scenes. Also, the makeup and costume of the cast were not topnotch all through the film. Let’s just say it’s Lolo’s first work of art and she will definitely do better in subsequent creations.
Overall, “When Love Is Not Enough” is a beautiful film. The cast interpreted their respective roles excellently. The film will premiere at selected cinemas worldwide.
