Top Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha aka Basket Mouth has released the first episode of his YouTube series “Papa Benji”.

The series houses top entertainers such as Nedu Wazobia, Buchi, Real Warripikin, Senator, Maleke, Broda Shaggi, and Sound Sultan.

“Papa Benji” series is centred around a particular pepper soup spot where people relax and have conversations. One thing spectacular about this relaxation centre is that Papa Benji actually inherited the recipe from his late father.

Going by the publicity for the series, a more engaging first episode was expected, one that would inspire people to anticipate the next. However episode one had a lot of dragged-out scenes, and lengthy conversations.

Sometimes, it felt like it was a promotion for the Guinness brand who I want to believe is the major sponsor of the series. Conversations over who won the 1 million naira cork took minutes to resolve and dragged for too long.

For a series based on a pepper soup spot, it just was a scene of Papa Benji tasting his recipe. No customer ate the meal to attest to the sweetness of the pepper soup. Episode 1 titled “The cork” was more of a promotion of the Guinness brand than an eye-opening to Papa Benji’s pepper soup.

I personally expected more from Basket Mouth since his Tv series “The Flat Mates” was a success.
