Paga Gives All Staff In Nigeria The Day Off For Their Mental Health

Paga Nigeria staff have been asked to take the day off on Friday 23rd October 2020 due to the unrest going on in several parts of the country. In the words of the Founder and CEO of Paga, Tayo Oviosu;

 

“We’ve taken a decision to give all Nigeria staff of @mypaga a day off tomorrow. No need to work from home. The impact of the last few days on the mental health of people is real. We all need to take time to recuperate. Stay safe, stay home, obey the curfew.”

Paga has been showing interest in how many people are coping with the violence occurring in Nigeria. The Nigerian mobile money platform is one of the most leading financial ecosystem in the country. It recognizes that its employees are not immune to what is happening country-wide.

 

Its decision to let its Nigeria staff take the day off was commended by many social media users. They said it is a wise decision and shows emotional intelligence. Like many other fintech companies that are spring up around Nigeria, Paga is one of the socially conscious ones. Paga has shown that it is conscious of the needs of both staff and customers.

 

In 2020, Paga bought Ethiopian software development company Apposit to strengthen its tech. The company also revealed that it has plans to spread its operations to about six countries in the next ten years. It plans to start servicing people in Mexico soon.
