OnePlus Has Been Throttling Popular Apps To Save Battery Life For Long

OnePlus has informed the public that it deliberately reduced the performance of most popular apps.

The company said it did that to improve battery life on its newest Oneplus 9 and Pro phones. A recent article by Andrei Frumusanu has prompted the china-based technology company to respond to the public. Popular testing tool Geekbench sees the OnePlus approach as “benchmark manipulation”.

 

It has since removed the OnePlus 9 and Pro from its Andriod benchmark chart.

In a statement addressed to XDA Developers, popular smartphone maker OnePlus insisted the throttling was intended to improve battery life.

“Our top priority is always delivering a great user experience with our products, based in part on acting quickly on important user feedback.”

In 2013 another popular smartphone maker was caught rigging its benchmark scores like OnePlus. Throttling phones performance only creates an unrealistic rush of Adrenaline, which later dies down after actual real-world usage kicks in.
