Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Records, has received a notice of contract termination from the legal representatives of street-pop singer,  Mohbad.

Mohbad’s attorneys delivered a notice of contract cancellation to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records on Tuesday, May 25, 2022.

This is comes on the heels of the widely reported conflict between Mohbad and Marlian Records.

The “Termination Notice” letter claims, among other things, that Naira Marley planned and carried out violent attacks on their signee (Mohbad).

Additionally, it stated that Naira Marley had breached the contract signed in 2019 by failing to pay all royalties and advances owed to the singer.

The notice stated that it was on the basis that Mohbad was terminating his contract with Marlian Records.

It also demanded that Naira Marley pay all the royalties, advances, and all monetary compensation due to Mohbad under the contract.

The letter also demanded that Naira Marley hands back to the singer the catalog of all the songs released under Marlian Records.

On Wednesday, 5th October 2022, Mohbad took to his Twitter page to share the clips of his bloodied body with the caption

“Just because I want to change my manager who is their brother, see what they did to me at Marlian House”.

Concerns regarding Mohbad’s drug use have been raised, and earlier conflicts between him and the Marlian Crew,

to whom he was signed, have been attributed to his reported penchant for heavy drug use.

The same was emphasized by Naira Marley when He went live on Wednesday to address the allegations by Mohbad

Naira claims that Mohbad arrived at the Marley residence completely wasted

after using an unknown stimulant that is known to make him angry.

Naira further disclosed that the singer wanted to replace his manager, Tunde, after they had a disagreement.

He asserts that Tunde was not his brother, as Mohbad claimed, and that he never objected to the managerial transition.
