Popular musician Mayorkun has spoken against body-shaming women in his latest video, “Up to Something”. In the video, Mayorkun is seen with women with different skin tones all dressed in white.

The lyrics of the song pass the message on why women should appreciate their bodies. The song, produced by super talented producer SperoachBeatz, reassures women that beauty comes in different forms, shapes, colours, and sizes.

The chorus of the song says:

“But you don’t really understand that you’re beautiful just the way you are. Girl, I like your body, naturally something, figure eight or nothing. Tension anybody, everywhere you dey.”

Mercy Eke winner of BBNaija Season 4 has shown her support for Mayorkun’s “Up To Something”. In a video spotted on Instagram, she doesn’t support body shaming of any kind because she has been through it.

She also encouraged women to be confident and strong, and own their bodies, no matter how they look.

Of late, a lot of women have put themselves under pressure to achieve the perfect body. As a result, cosmetic surgery is on the increase. These surgeries are expensive and sometimes come with a side effect.

“Up To Something” arrives after Mayorkun’s huge wins at the 2019 edition of the Headies Awards. There, he won the awards for “Best Pop Album” for his debut LP “The Mayor of Lagos”, and also an award for “Revelation of the Year”.
