Can somebody tell me that is not true that we just lost Mad Melon DANFO Driver pls
Omeofa Oghene, also known as Mad Melon, hit fame with his partner, Mountain Black, with the 2003 hit song “Danfo Driver”. They released three albums together.
Due to the success of the single titled after the album, the duo became known as Danfo Driver. Mad Melon remained a member of Danfo Driver until his death.
Their fame waned over the years like most Nigerian acts do. But the Danfo Drivers made the news again in 2018 when they dragged Tekno for content theft. The legendary duo called out Tekno for not getting permission for sampling their classic record, “Kpolongo“.
They could have slapped him with a copyright infringement lawsuit and gotten their due royalties. But clearly, that is not how things work in this country.
Mad Melon and Mountain Black also surprised fans with an appearance at Headies 2018 and evoked nostalgic feelings with the performance of their hit records.
