“Her Brilliance And Humour Were Unmatched” Thousands Pay Tribute To Drowned ‘Glee’ Star Naya Rivera

A body discovered at the southern California lake on July 13th  was identified as former ‘Glee’ star Naya Riviera.

 

The news came four days after she was declared missing. She had gone boating with her four-year-old son Josey Hollis. The child was later found on a boat on Lake Piru in California alone and told police that “they were swimming but she didn’t get back on board.

 

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced her passing at a press conference on Monday.
The body was discovered Monday morning at Lake Piru, where it was found floating in the northeast area of the lake where the water is between 35 and 60 feet deep”  Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said.

“We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said. He also added, “there is no indication of foul play or that this was a suicide.”

The body was later moved to the Ventura County Coroner to be further identified through dental records.

 

Naya Rivera was most popular for her role as Santana Lopez in the hugely successful TV series ‘Glee’ which ended in 2015.

 

Since the news of her death, thousands of ‘Glee’ fans have taken to social media to pay their last respect to Rivera. Many reminisced on moments she stole the thunder in the series, performing powerful songs to listeners delight.

The ‘Glee’ cast is no stranger to tragic deaths. In 2013, Cory Monteith who played the lead character of Finn Hudson died from an accidental drug overdose in his hotel room. Five years later in 2018, Mark Sailing, best known for his character Noah “Puck” Puckerman in ‘Glee’ took is own life.

 

He’d in 2016 pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of possessing child p*rnography and was to serve 4-7 years in prison.

 

Naya Rivera will be the third Glee cast to died in tragic, unexpected circumstances. Fellow Glee star Chris Colfer who played Kurt Hummel in “Glee” also wrote a lengthy tribute to the late star on his Instagram.

 

“How can you convey all your love and respect for someone in one post? How can you summarize a decade of friendship and laughter with words alone? If you were friends with Naya Rivera, you simply can’t. Her brilliance and humor were unmatched. Her beauty and talent were otherworldly.”
