Halo Infinite is bringing back the “tank gun” and jump features

Halo Infinite developers, 343 Industries, bows to pressure and will be bringing back the “tank gun” along with some jump features in its coming update.

The game makers had decided that the overpowered secret tank gun was not making the game enjoyable and removed it as part of its 3 May 2022 update. However, it seems the developer did not consider just how fond players had become of the weapon. Its removal lead to several criticisms and negative feedback, forcing 343 Industries to announce bringing the gun back.

Described as a portable version of Halo Infinite’s Scorpion Tank Cannon, the gun featured unlimited ammo and allowed speedrunners to take out enemies effectively.

In addition to the returning gun, Halo Infinite update will also bring back some skill jumps to the multiplayer maps like the ‘Pizza’ jump and other difficult jumps that expert players use to give themselves an edge.

Senior community manager John Junyszek at Halo explained the reason for initially removing the jumps and adding them back:

“We originally identified these jumps as falling into a couple of categories: Places where the environment was poorly communicating the traversal options of the game world, places that created a combat imbalance, or a combination of both.

“Players have made it clear that our analysis of these jumps was off target, and we value the feedback.”

Although the announcement did not come with a release date for the update, Junyszek said on Friday, 13 May, that it could come in ‘the next few days’.
