Elon Musk could assume CEO role after firing Twitter execs

— Elon Musk fired four Twitter executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal.
— It seems that more layoffs are on the way but not up to the initially rumoured 75%.

Elon Musk could take the role of Twitter’s CEO after he fired the company’s top executives, including former CEO Parag Agrawal.

Now going by the unofficial title of ‘Chief Twit’, the tech billionaire is expected to be involved in major policy changes at the social media company. His location also now says he at Twitter HQ, for now.

Despite only closing the deal earlier today, the acquisition has been a major talking point for months now. Musk’s first official act was to remove the decision makers which included Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, general counsel Sean Edgett, and head of legal policy, trust and safety Vijaya Gadde.

According to sources, the execs had different opinions to the new owner and had to be removed for his plans to succeed. Despite the layoffs, Elon Musk allegedly assured employees that firing 75% of them was not his plan. Although, there is still doubt about who else would lose their jobs.

Recall that during the early days of his Twitter acquisition, the SpaceX boss had hinted at cutting down cost at the firm, which would undoubtedly involve job cuts. Other tech giants like Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta are also doing similar things as the industry is experiencing turbulent times. With the executives out of the way, the new boss tweeted “the bird is freed.” Which can be loosely translated as taking the shackles of restrictions off and many have hinted that we could see the return of banned accounts like that of ex-president Donald Trump. Although, he has mentioned some level of ‘consequences’ for certain tweets as well.
