Disney has announced that it will be selling non-medical, reusable cloth face masks to customers in the US. The cloth face masks will be styled to feature Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters.
Disney’s masks will feature Anna and Elsa from Frozen; Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story; The Avengers; R2D2 and Baby Yoda.
They are designed in line with the CDC’s recommendation that people wear cloth face coverings when in public to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Disney adds that the cloth masks are not for use of medical personnel treating COVID-19 patients.
“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting. Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans, and communities that are so important to us,” senior vice president of Disney store and shopDisney, Edward Park, said in a statement.

The company also says it will donate one million masks to underserved communities via humanitarian aid organization, MedShare. All profits made from sales in the US till 30th September 2020, to the tune of $1 million, will also go to MedShare.
“Disney’s donations will make a tremendous impact in the communities we serve. Their contribution of one million Disney cloth face masks will be provided to families in underserved communities and organizations working to limit the spread of COVID-19, while their monetary donation will be used to support the medical community’s ongoing efforts to provide lifesaving care to those who need it most,” Charles Redding, CEO and President of MedShare said.
The masks will come in packs of four and retail at $19.99. They are, however available for pre-order now in Disney’s online store. The company also expects the masks to be available from 15th July 2020 according to its website.
