A new media report revealed that Amazon is working on a voice-activated, wrist-worn gadget that has the ability to read human emotions. The Amazon gadget might just revolutionise health care.

The report suggests that the Alexa voice software team and Amazon’s Lab126 hardware division are collaborating to develop the wearable division. The device also works in sync with a smartphone app.

It will have microphones that can decipher the wearer’s emotional state from the sound of their voice. The goal is for the device to be able to eventually proffer advice and solutions to the wearer on how to communicate more efficiently.

Amazon’s Lab126 department was responsible for the Fire Phone, Kindle and Echo speakers. The speakers ushered in the Alexa voice assistant.

There is also news that the group is developing a home robot. Amazon seems to be making efforts to create a hardware ecosystem of Alexa-capable devices.

The robot will then make for a more mobile Alexa. Furthermore, the emotion sensitive wearable device will give the voice assistant a better awareness of its user.

There are, of course, some inhibitions about this technology as the reliability of the gadget is already questionable. Reading human emotions can be quite complex. Due to this, this advanced form of technology is yet to be explored.

The report, however, explained that the project is not yet complete. Also, it is yet to reach any sort of commercial conclusions.

It is truly next-level technology. It seems like the future of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence is here. The thought that a machine will be able to get access to a person’s emotional state is albeit scary.
