Adidas is strong on sustainability, currently using only sustainable cotton, and by 2050, ten years before Adidas has plans to use only recycled polyester for its products.

The RPT-02 SOL headphones are built with recycled materials, recharged using the sun’s “light”. Rosell explained that “one of the key differences is they are powered by any light.”

The Zound Industries described the headphone battery life as “eternal playtime,” they can be powered by even indoor lighting or close to the windows.

Adidas promises these headphones have 80 hours of playtime when fully charged, and eternal playtime when exposed to light. They can also be charged through electricity with a Type-C cable. Sadly, these headphones don’t have Noise cancellation because of the on-ear design.

Gustaf Rosell, Chief Product and Innovation Officer at Zound Industries.

Rosell also told Digitial trends that the future headphones will definitely have active noise cancellation; but with a redesigned over-the-ear style. The RPT-O2 SOL headphones won’t be released anytime soon and will be priced between $199 and $229.

“We are about halfway and plan to release it in the first half of 2020,” Rosell said.

Another solar-powered headphone set to be released this month is the Urbanista Los Angeles Headphones.
