Actor Uche Maduagwu Recants, Says He’s Not Gay

Controversial Nigerian actor Uche Maduagwu has made a U-turn on this sexuality; he’s now annouced he’s not gay.

The actor on April 19th, 2021, took to Instagram to denounce his homosexuality.

“Dear fans, I am not gay. I lost movie roles, endorsements, and my girlfriend fighting for LGBT rights in Nigeria,” he wrote.

“Omg, even my girlfriend left me despite knowing I was fighting for LGBT right in Naija but I no regret using my celebrity status to fighting for this beautiful community.”

 

In January, Uche Maduagwu annouced he was gay and asked for acceptance from the public.

Appreciate others and #share only love we need to respect peoples choices not to judge them so lets practice Jesus kind of love,” he wrote.

His announcement was met with backlash as many accused him of chasing clout by saying he was gay.

Shortly after, Maduagwu shared on Instagram his plans for valentine’s day, which would involve a man.

My Valentine date must be a billionaire man with big cassava being gay is happiness some movie producers refuse to work with me because I came out as gay in Nollywood,” he wrote.

He was soon slammed by Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama who accused him of lying.

You are clearly ridiculing the LGBT community and starting a brouhaha that will consume you. I can authoritatively tell you that this is either your way of getting attention for your movie or you are battling with a mental health issue,” she wrote.

“This post right here is caused by poverty or an oblique allusion. This innuendo of lying about being gay is absolutely wrong and insensitive.”

 

Turns out she was right.
