Villains are an integral part of our childhood stories. From books to cartoons and films, they are the reason our heroes are so revered. If there were no bad guys, our childhood would have been plain boring.

Let us take a trip down memory lane together with some of our favourite villains.

1. Ursula, the Sea Witch

Ursula is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures’ 28th animated feature films, “The Little Mermaid”. She was part human, part octopus and all evil. She stole our superhero Ariel’s voice and tried to steal her true love too. Definitely one of the most annoying villains.

2. The Grinch

“The Grinch”, also known as Dr Seuss’ The Grinch, is a 2018 American 3D computer-animated Christmas film produced by Illumination. He did not just try to steal Christmas, but he was green with envy too. However, he eventually learned the true meaning of family, friends and the holiday spirit. He had a 180 degree turn from his thieving ways.

3. The Big Bad Wolf

Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? I bet you were. He is a fictional wolf appearing in several cautionary tales that include some of Aesop’s Fables and Grimms’ Fairy Tales like three little pigs. He huffed and he puffed, and he blew their first two houses down. Fortunately for the three little pigs, the wolf wasn’t the brightest guy, and he was eventually outsmarted.

4. Cinderella’s Stepmother

Lady Tremaine had to make it to the list as the evillest stepmother in TV history. She, however, could not get in the way of true love despite all. Cinderella and Prince Charming found each other despite the numerous obstacles she put in their way.

5. Cruella de Vil

Cruella de Vil is a fictional character created as the main antagonist of The Hundred and One Dalmatians. She was so scary, she officially had us in jitters. She would skin innocent puppies and separate innocent dogs from their families. But, like everything else on kids’ TV, good finally overcame her evil.

6. Agatha Trunchbull

Agatha Trunchbull, mostly known as Ms Trunchbull is the villain in the 1996 film and musical versions of the critically acclaimed Matilda. She was the former headmistress of Crunchem Hall Elementary School and Matilda’s biggest nemesis. We all know how much we hated her; she was one of our most notorious childhood villains. We were super excited when she was finally chased out of Miss Honey’s house.
