Huawei Operating System Expected To Be Faster Than Android

It is no news that Huawei is working on its own operating system. This is so that Huawei does not have to rely on Google for the Android Operating System following the US ban.

American president Donald Trump eased the initially placed restrictions on Huawei in June. The ban is expected to resume after a few weeks. It would mean that the Android operating system will no longer work on Huawei phones.

The ban forbids US companies from doing business with Huawei. This is already starting to affect certain businesses.

Huawei HongMeng OS to replace Android Operating System

Google says that it will lobby to get Huawei to continue using the Android OS. The tech giants think Huawei having its own OS will pose a security threat, so they want to speak to the US government to ease the ban.

However, it seems as though the founder of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei, is not holding his breath for an Android reunion. He recently revealed that the company was working on their HongMeng OS so as to reduce its dependency on the Android OS.

Zhengfei also revealed that this new OS might actually beat the Android when it comes to speed. He says it is likely to be 60% faster than the Android OS. HongMeng OS is designed to connect across various devices which include cars, phones and data centres.

A major problem highlighted, however, is the lack of an alternative to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The company explained that it is now looking to create an alternative that will cater to the application needs of users.

Huawei recently made a statement when it stopped solely using American Qualcomm chips. It now uses Huawei’s flagship Kirrin CPU for most of its phones. It seems Huawei will ride solo pretty soon and has intentions of becoming self-sufficient. The budding question is, “How far it can go with it and can HongMeng compete with the almighty Android?”
