The full nominations list for the 2021 Oscars has been released by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, husband Nick Jonas, announced the nominated entries for the award during a two-part live presentation on Monday 14th March.
Vying for the Best Picture category is “The Father”, “Judas and the Black Messiah”, “Mank”, “Minari”, “Nomadland”, “Promising Young Woman”, “Sound of Metal”, and “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.
“Mank”, Netflix’s 2020 comedy-drama, led with 10 nominations including the Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actor (Gary Oldman) and Best Supporting Actress (Amanda Seyfried) categories.
“The Father”, “Judas and the Black Messiah”, “Minari”, “Nomadland”, “Sound of Metal” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” all got six nominations each.
Nigeria’s “The Milkmaid” had earlier lost out in the shortlist for the International Feature Film (IFF) category ahead of nominations.
The 2021 Oscars event will take place at Los Angeles’ Union Station and the Dolby Theatre on 25th April after being pushed back from its original 28th February date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
