YouTube Will Stream ‘We Are One’ Film Festival For Free From 29th May

YouTube has announced that it will stream a global film festival themed: We Are One, because film festivals cannot be held traditionally while people stay at home and obey social distancing guidelines.

 

This free online film festival will start from 29th May to 7th June 2020 on the site.

 

Twenty world’s most famous film festivals will have their content featured in the festival. They include; the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Jerusalem Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival.

 

It will also feature shorts films, documentaries, comedy, music, and conversations. A full schedule of events will be posted on the festival’s YouTube page soon.

“One of the most unique and inspiring aspects of the world staying home is our ability to come together and experience an event as one, and We Are One: A Global Film Festival is just that,” Robert Kyncl, the chief business officer of YouTube, said in a statement.

YouTube will be filming the We Are One film festival for free on its platform.

 

The film festival will donate some of its proceeds to the World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

 

“We often talk about film’s uniquely powerful role in inspiring and uniting people across borders and differences to help heal the world. All of the world needs healing right now,” Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Film Festival co-founder and CEO said in a statement.

 

Tribeca Film Festival will be in charge of organising and producing the festival.
