Yoruba Movie star actor Damola Olatunji is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an officer of the Nigerian Police force.
Olatunji made the news on Monday after he confronted policemen whom he claimed assaulted him and his personal assistant at Abule-Egba, a Lagos suburb.
The actor captured the incident live on Instagram and showed the faces of the policemen who allegedly assaulted him and his P.A by seizing their phones.
Olatunji claimed that the policemen forcefully took his phone while he was recording them and also slapped his P.A.
He also accused the policemen of extorting people of their “hard-earned money”, and also assaulted a bike man.
“When we talk about the Nigeria Police, we have the good ones and the bad ones. Examples of the bad ones are the ones you are seeing right now in Abule Egba. They are extorting people of their hard-earned money,” he had said in the video.
“And this one had the guts to take my phone because I was recording them. He had the guts to slap my PA and collect his phone.”
Thereafter Olatunji was detained at the Area P police division in Abule Egba and arraigned before a magistrate court in Ogba where he was granted bail with the case adjourned.

The actor’s lawyer Sulayman Alabi, in an interview with BBC Pidgin his confirmed that the actor has regained his freedom.
According to him, the film star was slammed with four charges which include allegedly lying against the police on social media. Olatunji is also charged, for obstructing the police from discharging its duty and unlawfully challenging police officials.
The court adjourned the trial till February 2022.
