Yomi Fabiyi: TAMPAN Suspends Actor Indefinitely Over Controversial “Oko Iyabo” Film

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has suspended embattled actor Yomi Fabiyi over his controversial film “Oko Iyabo.”TAMPAN Summons Yomi Fabiyi Over Oko IyaboRecall the actor was summoned by the association after the outrage and backlash the film received when it debuted on YouTube.

Yomi Fabiyi had re-enacted the scene where Baba Ijesha was caught on CCTV trying to molest the 14-year-old. However, in the film, Fabiyi portrayed Baba Ijesha as the girl’s lover, a narrative he’s been working hard to peddle since the news broke.

He also named it “Oko Iyabo” trolling Iyabo Ojo who they’d a fight over the issue. He used real names as well such as the alleged victim foster mother’s name, Comedienne Princess. The film has earned him a myriad of harsh criticisms.

TAMPAN in its statement said it found Yomi Fabiyi guilty of a number of professional misconducts and unethical practices. These include attempting to cause the social crisis, the use of real names without consent, and others.

The director of the film pleaded guilty and has been suspended by the association for three months. Other actors in the film have also been summoned TAMPAN said.

 

Yomi Fabiyi has been very vocal in his support for the disgraced actor, Baba Ijesha. He also organised a protest for Baba Ijesha at the police station. He also accused actress Iyabo Ojo and the Princess of plotting to kill Baba Ijesha once he’s released from jail.

 

Meanwhile, his “Oko Iyabo” has been taken down from YouTube after enraged Nigerians reported the film. However, Fabiyi insists he took it down himself after the outrage and backlash.
