Xiaomi Unveils Mi 10 Lite: The Cheapest 5G Phone In The World

Xiaomi is beating oppositions in the 5G network front as it recently unveils the Mi 10 Lite, which will be the cheapest 5G phone when it finally becomes available in May 2020.

While there are already big names in the 5G space, talking about Huawei and Samsung, it seems Xiaomi will be giving them a run for their money. Using the oldest technique in the marketing handbook, the Chinese electronics brand has unruffled every other phone maker’s feathers.

Xiaomi had been aiming to launch its Mi 10 series at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The show which had been scheduled for 24th to 27th February 2020 has since been canceled due to coronavirus fears. Thus, the company launched it in China on 13th February.

Since then very little has been said about the phones. However, yesterday, 27th March 2020, Xiaomi finally revealed its specifications. The Mi 10 series feature Mi 10 Lite, Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.

While all of them have 5G capabilities, which are not new, the pricing caught many by surprise. Mi 10 Lite will be affordable for around $380 while the Mi 10 Pro will cost $1,086. The Mi 10 will enter the market with an $868 price tag.

This price is truly a game-changer for many reasons. One of which is that since 5G is not yet prevalent across the world, many using 4G enabled smartphones will not be willing to lose a limb to buy expensive 5G phones. However, with Mi 10 Lite being available for $380 (NGN 139,460), many will not mind having it until 5G reaches their location.

Many would not mind that it comes with basic specifications such as:

— 6.57-inch AMOLED screen

— Four rear cameras (lead by a 48MP snapper and a 16MP camera on the front)

— 4,160mAh battery

— The Snapdragon 765G chipset

Also, its official market launch date is in May 2020. This may allow time for the world to return to a semblance of normalcy from the COVID-19 pandemic.
