Xbox now has a refreshed crisp 4k dashboard on its Series X consoles. Parent company Microsoft has rolled out the latest globally to gamers this week. Initially, its pricey Series X console couldn’t run a native 4k resolution dashboard. It only managed to upscale its 1080p resolution to 4k, which looked grainy most of the time.
Microsoft’s latest update solves all of that and more. The company even shared an image to show the difference with the new update. The Series X dashboard now has “increased sharpness and improved text readability” it said.
The Redmond based company first made the announcement, via Its Insider program some weeks ago.
Basically, its UI ie its interface is getting a refresh. Before this, the Series X dashboard was displaying at a full high definition (1080p) resolution. Weirdly, for a console that could output games in 4k resolution.

The Xbox team said “This change means Home, Guide, and other areas of the UI will be displayed in a higher native resolution for increased sharpness and text readability,” This upgrade seems to be only available for the Series X, its counterpart Series S can’t output native 4k resolution games, only videos.
Microsoft has been going strong on its Xbox insider testing program, it recently teased a new night mode for gamers. This will dim their controller LEDs, TV screen and its power button. The new 4K dashboard refresh will certainly look stunning when displayed on an Ultra HD 4K Tv. Microsoft gamers are in for a serious treat in the coming months.
Also available in the new update is the new Xbox Night mode as earlier promised. Xbox now has a quick settings menu accessible from the Xbox button on the controller. The company says this will “quickly toggle accessibility features without leaving your game or app.”
