Xbox Game Pass Now Has 18 Million Subscribers!

The Microsoft Xbox Game Pass service is proving to be a hit with gamers. The service dubbed the “Netflix for video games” now has 18 million subscribers, an increase from the 15 million subscribers from September 2020.

The subscription service offers access to a growing selection of over 100 Xbox games for $9.99 per month. At yesterday’s earnings call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that Xbox Live now has over 100 million monthly active users.

Nadella also revealed that the launch of the Xbox Series X and S was the most successful in Microsoft’s history. According to the CEO they had “the most devices ever sold in a launch month”.

Microsoft had also proved its commitment to pushing the Xbox Game Pass service with its acquisitions. The tech giant is focusing on studio acquisitions to bolster the content available on Game Pass.

Its acquisition of ZeniMax Media the parent company of Doom and Fallout studio Bethesda Softworks is one of such acquisitions. The acquisition looks like one that will be a massive boost Xbox Game Pass in the future.

Microsoft is also doing its best to incentivize consumers into the Xbox Game Pass. The company offers the first month of the service for $1 and has been enticing Xbox Live Gold customers to switch over to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as it features its new xCloud game streaming feature. Also, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will now get a month’s free subscription to Disney Plus including other benefits.
