Ramon Babatunde Adeniji, a Wizkid fan, was shot dead by a Nigerian police officer upon leaving the “Starboy Fest” concert venue.
CP Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, ordered the arrest of Lukmon Akanbi, a police sergeant. Officers subsequently arrested Sergeant Lukmon for shooting the deceased around the Eko Atlantic area of Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to Bala Elkana, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, there was a fracas between the officer and the victim. Sergeant Lukmon reportedly pulled the trigger of his pistol on Ramon, and doctors at the Naval Dockyard Hospital later confirmed him dead.
Meanwhile, Lukmon is currently in detention at the Provost Department in Command Headquarters, Ikeja. Nevertheless, Wizkid took to his Twitter page to demand justice for his deceased fan.

This will not be the first time a trigger happy policeman who cannot control his temper will murder a civilian. Officers of Nigeria’s anti-cultism police unit shot Kolade Johnson during a raid in Lagos on Sunday, 31st March 2019.
Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan of the Gbagada division of the Lagos State Police Command’s Special Anti Cultism Squad (SACS) explained his version of the events that led to the fatal shooting of Kolade Johnson.
When paraded alongside Sergeant Godwin Orji as the main suspects in Johnson’s shooting on Tuesday, 2nd April 2019, Olalekan said he didn’t intend to shoot the deceased father of one.
According to him, he only shot once in the air after his team was mobbed while trying to arrest a suspected cultist.
Johnson’s killing led to widespread calls for the implementation of meaningful police reform to curb brutality unleashed on helpless citizens.
