In  June 2020, Uchemba adopted Demola granting him a scholarship to further his education. He shared on his Instagram how he met the young lad at a carpentry shop. Uchemba said he noticed the boy was bright and intuitive and decided to take him in.

“I asked him some questions and realized that he is a very smart young boy, so I invited him to my house to know more about him. He is 18 years of age, has finished secondary school (with good grades), and would love to study Economics in the University but can’t further his education because he doesn’t have a sponsor to put him through school.”

So today I decided to adopt Demola not only to sponsor him through school but to mentor him with the knowledge and other information that has made me who I am today, till he becomes the man God destined him to be. Say hello to my new son 😊.” he wrote at the time.

This is not the first time Uchemba will extend a hand of benevolence towards people who need it. The actor had previously helped a family living under a mast, providing them with accommodation and also N1 Million to begin a business with.

He’s also been involved in several works of philanthropy and runs the Willaims Uchemba Foundation, a charity set up to help the less privileged.
