Social media services like Spotify, Snapchat, Discord and Etsy were experiencing outages yesterday November 16, 2021 for almost an hour. The downtime is a result of Google’s Cloud networking error.
Google’s service status page was showing a 404 error display message almost the duration of the hour outage. So web pages were not working, causing hectic distortions for the social media sites.
Afterwards, Google updated its status page around 1:16 eastern time that “the issue with Cloud Networking is partially resolved” although users were still experiencing some buggy connections.
Spotify even had to update its Twitter account after getting feedbacks on the cloud networking courage. Other sites like Discord, Snapchat were all down because they were using a common service provider Google.

Just last month, WhatsApp and sister company apps such as Messenger, Facebook and Instagram were down for almost 6 hours on October 4, 2021.
Parent company Facebook said in an official statement that the cause of the downtime was due to configuration issues.
The company said, “this disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt.” Even CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote an apology on Monday evening “Sorry for the disruption today — I know how much you rely on our services to stay connected with the people you care about.”
This outage was caused by network traffic coordination between data centres caused the downtime in Facebook.
While the Facebook website displayed “something went wrong”, Instagram was showing a 5xx Server Error message. Spotify and others were showing a 404 error message, Google has fixed the mishap and these services are back up.
