Why “Never Have I Ever” Season 3 is a Must Watch!

Since its initial release on Netflix in 2020, “Never Have I Ever” season 3 has evolved, much like Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan).

Devi was introduced to us in Season 1 as a sad, once paraplegic, thirsty teen

on the lookout for popularity and a hot guy when we first met her.

She was, in a word, a mess, but she was our mess. The show made every effort to depict our crazy, adorable, and lovable nut-job as such.

In season three of “Never Have I Ever”, the focus is primarily on the s*x life of its teenage protagonist Devi Vishwakumar.

The show remains as lighthearted as usual but is notably reluctant to explore the seriousness at its center.

But because the show’s will-they-won’t-they story involving the bookish Ben Gross and the school jock Paxton Hall-Yoshida

had already come to a satisfying conclusion in earlier seasons, it finds itself at an unanticipated turning point this time.

With nowhere else to turn, the program chooses to create fresh challenges for Devi to overcome.

It throws Devi from one boy to the next over the course of ten very brief episodes, forcing her to keep making the same mistakes,

to the point where you start to wonder if Karan Johar himself is bending rules behind the scenes to snoop into Devi’s personal life.

For instance, the plot functions as both a contraception and a Cupid when it places Devi and Paxton in intimate circumstances

only to prevent them from having s*x because it isn’t the season finale yet.

And as weird as this might sound, losing her virginity is Devi’s primary goal this season,

as she emerges from the grief of losing her father, and the emotional toll of dating two boys simultaneously last season.

Needless to say, she blows it with multiple people.

For some reason, series creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher seem to working under the assumption

that the show will face an existential threat if it’s not actively pushing Devi into a love triangle of some sort.

All in all “Never Have I Ever” season 3 is a feel good series that you should definitely watch.
