Why Elon Musk wants Twitter court case delayed?

Elon Musk legal team wants the court to delay the Twitter trial until February 2023, while the social media company wants it done before September 2022.

The Twitter purchase drama continues to take various forms, and we are not yet at its end. As the company predicted, the case has now evolved into a lawsuit which it wants to be tidied as soon as possible. Engadget notes that the original deal has a deadline of October 24, after which it is supposed to ‘drop dead.’

Likely, the company has plans in place and wants to get the deal sorted out before then. However, Musk’s lawyers think differently. They believe that Twitter is trying to pull a fast one on them and not let them build their case well. They also said that the sudden change in pace is suspect.

“Twitter’s sudden request for warp speed after two months of foot-dragging and obfuscation is its latest tactic to shroud the truth about spam accounts long enough to railroad defendants into closing,” their statement read.

If Twitter has its way, it would prefer a four-day trial sometime in September, but Elon Musk’s lawyers want it moved to February 13, 2023. For now, both parties have a 90-minute hearing scheduled for July 19 before Delaware Chancery Court Judge Kathaleen McCormick.

Twitter will try to get the court to force Musk to buy it for $44 billion or pay a fine. While on the other side, the billionaire’s lawyers want the company to reveal the exact amount of bot accounts it has, which will determine its value.
