Whoopi Goldberg will star in Sister Act 3. It was announced on Thursday 10th December during Disney Investor Day.

Released in 1992, the first Sister Act reaped heavenly rewards at the box office, grossing more than $230 million worldwide. The cast included Maggie Smith, Harvey Keitel, and Kathy Najimy. A less successful sequel, “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit”, was released the following year. Meanwhile, “A Sister Act musical” hit Broadway in 2011.

This announcement by Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, on Thursday during Disney Investor Day, marks the fourth collaboration between Perry and Goldberg. They most recently partnered for 2018’s “Nobody’s Fool” with Tiffany Haddish. While promoting that film on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” Perry suggested he and Goldberg team up to produce a third “Sister Act.”

“For a long time they kept saying no-one wanted to see it, and then quite recently it turns out that that may not be true,” Whoopi Goldberg told James Corden.

“People might want to see it. So we’re working diligently to figure out how to get the gang together. Listen bad singing, great singing. OK singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?” she added.
