WhatsApp To Allow Chats Transfer From Android To iOS Soon

WhatsApp may soon allow users to transfer their chats from Android to iOS, this would be possible using the ‘Move to iOS’ app. This is according to a report from WABetainfoas the site spotted this possibility in the latest WhatsApp beta version 22.2.74 for iOS.

The same possibility was previously seen in Android beta version 2.21.20.11, as both points to using the Move to iOS app.  WAbetainfo even shared some screenshots to show how this process will be possible.

Here in this screenshot, WhatsApp would be asking permission in order to begin the chat transfer. Both phones will need to be unlocked and both apps open while the migration happens.

Google previously announced that the WhatsApp chat transfer feature between iOS and Android is coming to Pixels and Android 12 smartphones. This feature was only recently available for Samsung newest foldable.

Google in its Pixel shipping box includes a Lightning to USB-C cable. This easily transfers your entire files and apps from iOS to its pixels.

The tech company says the feature will be available on “all Pixel phones” and later “become available on new smartphones that launch with Android 12.”  In order for this to work, you will need to have both WhatsApp apps up to date and a USB-C to lightning cable around.

In order to set up your Android phone with your previous messages on iOS; you will have to scan a QR code. This QR code from your iPhone will start the transfer process to your Android phone.

WhatsApp’s new chat transfer feature solves an annoying data backup for Android and iOS. WhatsApp Backup stores in either Google Drive or iCloud. Users can’t get their backed-up files once they switch to another OS.

Google isn’t pushing this feature to all Android 12 ready smartphones. The hardware manufacturers/OEMs will have to add support for the WhatsApp chat transfer while updating to Android 12.

Hopefully, the latest beta versions seen by WABeetainfo are not just restricted to Android 12, that way everyone can be able to migrate their chats.
