You could soon start paying for WhatsApp as paid premium subscription service testing begins

WhatsApp for Business users may soon start paying for the service as beta users report seeing an option for a paid premium subscription plan.

On WABetaInfo, the platform that reports the upcoming features coming to the instant messaging app, users say that there is a premium button. However, the platform says that the premium option would only be available to select businesses.

For now, there is no mention of what qualifies a business for premium tier. In addition, there isn’t much info on how the paid service differs from the free one we have enjoyed for many years.

The few advantages we found are a custom business link and improved multi-device use. We don’t yet know how much the plans will cost.

The custom business link is said to be a way to improve brand recognition and quickly reach customers. For example, if you choose a custom link that matches your business name, it makes it easier for customers to recognise you. It also takes them to your business landing page.

Meanwhile, the improved multi-device support will allow you connect up to 10 different devices to one account. This feature will come in handy for businesses that deal with loads of orders or customer care representatives who hold multiple conversations at the same time.

Likely, there would be more advantages when the WhatsApp premium feature officially roles out. For now, it is important to remember that not all tested features eventually get wider release. Also, the company is yet to confirm testing the WhatsApp paid subscription, so, take this news with a pinch of salt.
