Reports say WhatsApp might be working on a new “Communities” feature. This allows a newer specific WhatsApp group different from what is currently offered in the messaging platform.

This was after XDA Developers saw a live build of the feature earlier, an APK teardown detailing the changes. This was seen in the string additions on WhatsApp, showing the community feature.

The new communities feature will give group Admins the ability to create larger groups of communities. WABetaInfo says this new feature will allow users to create groups within groups.

Group Administrators can invite new users to a group via a Community Invite link, even hinting that the messages within the group are end-to-end encryption. This new feature is probably in testing.

Just maybe the communities feature could be WhatsApp answer to the large group capabilities of rivals Telegram. WABetaInfo also says the communities feature will be aesthetically different from the normal groups. That means the new WhatsApp will have square rounded icon corners.

The reporting site says “Community” is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android and WhatsApp beta for iOS.  It’s likely the appearance, features, anything else may change before the official release to beta testers.

There’s not even a release date available yet so users might wait to try these new features. Should there be news about the community feature things like its further development and adds on. We will inform you about any other changes and addition.
