It is clear that the messaging platform is moving on from being individual centric to accommodate needs of businesses. A lot of people who use the app on desktop do so because they are already working on their computer and picking up their phone every time to reply or continue a conversation is a hassle.
Like other enterprise communication platforms, WhatsApp now allows users to share call links which makes it easier to schedule meetings and include people who are not on your contact list. Its Communities feature is also another way to bring more groups of people together, like divisions of a company.
Meta’s goal is to make money from users and one of its strategy seems to be turning WhatsApp into a one-stop communication tool for paying subscribers. While the company is yet to reveal its cards, many believe that a WhatsApp subscription feature is on the way.
One feature that users are asking for, now that you can make calls on WhatsApp desktop, is the ability to share screens. Zuckerberg has not confirmed if they are working on it yet.
