The long-awaited Ashanti Vs Keyshia Cole Verzuz battle after months of postponements, is finally here.
The singers had first hinted at a hit-for-hit battle back in May 2020 after Cole posted a chart of both their songs with the caption “Is this accurate”?

From all indications, the battle had every potential of being a stiff one as both singers possess quite an impressive catalogue of hits songs
However, on the 12th of December, the day that Ashanti was supposed to face-off Keyshia Cole in the Verzuz battle, she revealed she had tested positive for COVID-19. “Hey, y’all. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m OK and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the Verzuz from my house…we’re trying to figure it out”. She wrote on Instagram.

Despite the letdown, Verzuz announced that the battle had been rescheduled for 9th January. “We apologize to our incredible audience!. Get well soon, Ashanti. Wear a mask, stay inside and take COVID-19 seriously. It’s truly affecting our community.” Verzuz wrote on Instagram.
Again, more postponements besieged the battle and it was moved to 22nd January. Scheduled for 2 am, the battle didn’t begin until an hour later to the annoyance of waiting fans.
Ashanti not missing the opportunity sang her “Always On Time” telling the audience: “Just in case some of y’all were late”
They both sang their songs thrilling the audience after which Ashanti debuted a new song 235 (2:35 I Want You).
