Aretha Franklin’s Biopic “Respect” is almost here and we cannot wait! MGM on Sunday released the trailer to the long-awaited Aretha Franklin Biopic “Respect”.
In it, Jennifer Hudson hits bone-chilling notes, proving again she was perfectly cast to do justice to the Queen of Soul’s legacy.
The film follows the story of young Aretha’s career rise from singing in her father’s church to becoming an international superstar.
In the trailer, vocal power-house Jennifer Hudson belts out the song the film is named after between intercut scenes of Aretha Franklin working hard to build her career and demanding respect while at it.
Before her death in 2018, Franklin was involved in the making of the film and handpicked Jennifer Hudson to portray her in her biopic.

This will be her first feature film having worked in television helming episodes of “Mrs. Fletcher,” “Queen Sugar,” “The Walking Dead,” “Jessica Jones,” “Insecure,” and “Dietland.”
