Vodafone, Nreal and the cooking platform Kitchen Stories have launched Giga AR, an augmented reality experience for the kitchen. The Giga AR announcement comes just months after Vodafone said it would be selling Nreal Light glasses during the first quarter in Germany and Spain with other markets set to follow after that.

With Giga AR, users will be able to follow recipes hands-free; this allows for full concentration on the meal and avoids getting recipe books dirty. The recipes delivered through the glasses can be controlled using integrated eye controls. You can pause, skip and also repeat content by controlling your gaze.

Commenting on the product, Vodafone Germany CEO Hannes Ametsreiter said:

“Today, we are taking the next step in augmented reality; as well as showing what the technology can do. Together with Nreal; Steffen Henssler; and Kitchen Stories likewise, we are creating the first virtual cooking experience in digitally augmented reality.”

According to Vodafone, users will have the choice of getting recipes from Kitchen Stories or from the chef Steffen Henssler. Vodafone Germany will be offering the Nreal Light in a bundle with the OPPO Find X3 Pro smartphone with prices starting from €1 on select RED tariffs.
