Virgin Galactic Approved By FAA To Begin Airspace Travel For Customers

Virgin Galactic has announced that it has received the United States FAA (Federal Aviation Administration’s) approval to fly customers on its Spaceship Two rocket plane.

This feat brings commercial space travel to a further reality; another company in the race to start commercial space travel is “Blue Origin” owned by Billionaire Jeff Bezos.

Virgin revealed through a news release of the approval from FAA; for full commercial Launch license after its successful May test flight.

The company’s existing commercial space transportation operator license was updated to fly customers to space. But we all know the customer segments for these flights will be billionaires and millionaires.

From the data gathered from the Galactic May 22 flight, all the flight objectives were met. And the company will also continue to prepare for its remaining three test flights.

Micheal Colglazier, Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Galactic mentioned the success of the flight gives the company the confidence to proceed towards their first fully crewed test flight in the summer.

If you recall Virgin had a rocket live stream announced some weeks ago; the company’s share price spiked almost 39% on Friday’s trading session after the news of the FAA license to $55.91.

As many as 600 customers have put down as much as $250,000 for its suborbital spaceflight reservation; according to a report by universetoday.com. This price is expected to go up when the company reopens its ticket window.

Elsewhere, Blue Origin has plans for its crewed flight slated on July 20, which is the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
