Veteran Yoruba Actor Fasasi ‘Dagunro’ Olabankewin Is Dead

Veteran Yoruba actor Fasasi Olabankewin, popularly known as Dagunro has been declared dead. Ademola Adedokun, the Secretary of the Osun State chapter of Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria, confirmed his death.

 

In the same light, the CEO of Best Of Nollywood, Seun Oloketuyi, announced his death on social media.

According to sources, he dealt with an undisclosed sickness for the last few years of his life. The late Dagunro died in Lagos during the early hours of Thursday, 13th June 2019. They subsequently buried him in Osogbo, Osun.

 

The Osogbo born actor is popular for playing traditional roles in many Yoruba epic films.

 

 

Many well-wishers and fans have mourned the passing away of the Yoruba actor. Some of the celebrities who grieved over his death are Saidi Balogun and Adekole Tijani.

Surviving him are two sons who are also theatre arts practitioners. Their names are Kazeem Iyanda Olabankewin and Jamiu Olabankewin.

 

His death comes just a month after the death of Henry Okoro. The Nollywood director and producer died in a car crash in May 2019.
