Reports from Reuters say that hacking group REvil is now offline thanks to a coordinated US Fed hack. According to Reuter, this is a joint effort by the secret service, FBI, Cyber Command and several organizations from different countries.
This joint task force has been able to bring down the hacker group website, as it is reportedly offline. Its dark web blog previously shared information from companies they hacked and collected ransomware from.
Even Acer announced that a group of hackers known as the Desorden has breached their server in India. These hackers made away with over 60 gigabytes worth of customers private data.
The hack was first reported by the hackers, after which they announced that “affected customer data are in the millions.” Acer confirmed the breach saying names, addresses, and phone numbers of millions of customers were hacked.

Worryingly, the hackers also stole some restricted corporate financial information. Acer immediately performed a full scan of its system after confirmation. It also said it has informed customers who are potentially affected by the breach.
This is the second time Acer is having a breach in 2021. Earlier this year known hacking group REvil stole sensitive data including bank statements and other financial information.
The group demanded Acer pay them $50 million in cryptocurrency as ransomware. Its latest breach by Desorden hasn’t requested any ransomware yet. But they have published over 10,000 accounts of personal customer data.
Well, REvil might be offline for now, but that doesn’t mean they might not resurge. The US Fed is making its joint task force an ongoing process in case of a resurgence.
