Ukraine is selling a timeline of Russia 2022 invasion as NFTs

Ukraine is selling the timeline of the 2022 Russia invasion a NFTs to raise funds for displaced civilians and army.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, tweeted the announcement on 25 March 2022. He wrote:

The NFT collection is called Meta History: Museum of War and contains news item about the invasion and an art illustration. It starts with a news tweet from @BBCNews that reads:  “Ukraine conflict: Russia announces special military operation in Donbas.”

The supporting art is quite eye-catching and tells the story of how the invasion began before daylight.

When this article was published, there were only 54 NFTs in the collection and they covered the first three days of the conflict. Likely, more will be coming before sales begin on Wednesday, 30 March 2021.

This is not the only way that Ukraine has been making use of cryptocurrency during the invasion. The government had raised about $54 million in crypto donations in the first three weeks of Russia’s attack.

This NFT collection replaces the country’s initial plan to airdrop free tokens to people who donated cryptocurrency to it. That plan had been besieged by a copycat scam and the logistics constraints of reaching all donors.
