Twitter app now makes chirp sounds when you refresh

Some Twitter users have been hearing chirp sounds while using the mobile app, so if you have heard it, you are not alone, according to this The Verge article.

The sounds are described as ‘a little windup trill’ and a short chirp; they usually happen when you refresh your feed and when it is done refreshing. Although I couldn’t immediately replicate the sounds on my own app, there had been several Tweets about it from others. And this time, it is not just the ‘privileged’ iOS users.

Eventually, I started hearing the chirp sound after I force closed the app and opened it again.

Here is a screen recording of the sound:

Although it seems that the sound is just reaching several users on Friday, July 15, there are some older Tweets that claim to have been hearing the refresh sounds some weeks earlier.

The likely explanation for this is that Twitter is rolling out the feature slowly and it could reach more people before July 18. There has been no word from the company despite many of the Tweets about the sound having its official handle tagged as well.

Also noteworthy is the fact that a day before it became rampant, the platform had experienced outages for some users.
