Snapchat is the first social media platform to openly declare war against Donald Trump and his internet rants. It announced limiting the number of people that can see his content by removing it from the Discover section. The President’s campaign team has in return accused Snapchat of attempting to rig the 2020 elections.
Last week, Trump and Twitter’s disagreement had been one of the most followed news. The issue had arisen when the platform decided to label Trump’s Tweet as ‘glorifying violence’. It had led to the President using his official powers to issue an executive order against social media companies in general.
But while Twitter had labeled the posts and branded some others; Facebook had decided to leave the same post untouched on its platform. However, Snapchat has done what the two social media giants could not do; It is limiting how many people can see the President’s content on its platform.

According to a spokesperson from the company:
“We are not currently promoting the President’s content on Snapchat’s Discover platform. We will not amplify voices who incite racial violence and injustice by giving them free promotion on Discover.
“Racial violence and injustice have no place in our society and we stand together with all who seek peace, love, equality, and justice in America.”
Snapchat’s Discover platform is a section where users see contents that are promoted. Usually, popular users like Donald Trump are among those included in this Snapchat promotion, until now. Thus, while Snapchat is not censoring Trump’s posts as Twitter had done, it is stopping a large chunk of users from seeing his content.
Snapchat’s decision has drawn many commendations online. But not everyone is happy about this. One such person is Brad Parscale who is in charge of Trump’s 2020 campaign. As a member of the Donald Trump team, Parscale said, “Snapchat is trying to rig the 2020 election.”
