Top Nollywood Actor Ernest Asuzu Dies At 37

Top Nollywood actor, Ernest Asuzu, is dead. He was 37 at the time of his demise. The deceased wife Jennifer confirmed the death to Pulse and revealed that the actor slumped and never woke up.

Known for his Bad Boy roles, Ernest Asuzu began his acting career in the ’90s and rose to prominence after he starred in the 1997 Nollywood classic, “Rituals”.

He was the toast of Nollywood until his career nosedived after he came down with a stroke in 2015 which affected his speech. He was also bedridden for three years.

Originally from Imo state, Asuzu grew up in Lagos state where he had his primary and secondary school education.

Asuzu rose to limelight in the 1990s after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster “Another Campus Queen.”

He went to star alongside some of Nollywood’s greats like Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Emeka Ike and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

He reportedly starred in over 150 movies during his career in Nollywood. Just like a number of movie stars, Asuzu also had a stint in the music industry. His stage name was El Cream.

By 2015, when he suffered a stroke there were reports that the condition took a toll on him financially and mentally. In 2020, a video of the actor surfaced online where he was spotted appealing for financial aid.

The actor tried to bounce back on several occasions but the state of his health overshadowed the once bubbling and Nollywood bad boy.  He is survived by his wife and two children
