Media personality Toke Makinwa has reacted to the backlash after weighing in on American singer Kelly Clarkson’s controversial divorce case.
Clarkson has been directed by a US court to pay N100m ($200k) to her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock monthly for child and spousal support.
Bemoaning the steep amount, Makinwa said it was unfair to Clarkson as women already have enough problems. She said women didn’t always win and are still underpaid in society. Makinwa further added that while she understood spousal support, she finds it ridiculous that Blackstock has to be paid for taking care of his own kids.
Her comments earned her severe backlash from the public. Her fellow OAP N6 even went as far as shading Makinwa on his IG, saying she’s not all that bright.

Responding to the backlash, the media personality and host said no one is feeding. As such, she’s not afraid of their judgment.
“The freedom that comes from not trying to impress the world. Not caring if you are liked or not, not trying to fit in, not allowing the crowd mentality own you is priceless,” she wrote.
“I am not afraid of airing my opinion, if I’m wrong I’ll learn, if I’m right I welcome diversity. Too many people are too afraid to live for fear of judgment. No one can judge me, no one is feeding me, no one deserves that much power.”
Toke Makinwa, 36 is a Nigerian media personality. Additionally, she’s the host of The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and also runs a popular Youtube Vlog, Toke Moments.
